RESUMO: Spermacoce latifolia, S. verticillata e Richardia brasiliensis (família Rubiaceae, tribo Spermacoceae) são plantas daninhas tolerantes ao glyphosate nas áreas de soja do Brasil. Mudanças na flora daninha para espécies tolerantes ao glyphosate nas áreas de soja evidenciam a necessidade de adoção de práticas que conservem a eficácia desse herbicida. Este estudo avaliou o efeito de aplicações de herbicidas em golpe simples e duplo no controle de S. latifolia, S. verticillata e R. brasiliensis antes da semeadura da soja. O delineamento foi o de blocos casualizados, com tratamentos em esquema fatorial. O fator A constou de três tratamentos de herbicidas sistêmicos aos 10 dias antes do plantio (DBS), enquanto o fator B constou de três tratamentos de herbicidas de contato aplicado aos 0 DBS (“plante e aplique”). As aplicações em golpe simples e duplo foram seguidas por aplicações em pós-emergência de glyphosate ou 2,4-D + glyphosate quando a cultura da soja atingiu três folhas expandidas. A eficácia do controle de cada espécie-alvo foi avaliada visualmente aos 14 dias após a semeadura (DAS), bem como aos 0 e 28 dias após a aplicação em pós-emergência (DAA) da cultura. As aplicações de golpe duplo geralmente proporcionaram maiores níveis de eficácia de controle para as plantas daninhas alvo da família Rubiaceae do que as aplicações em golpe simples. Glyphosate + 2,4-D, glyphosate + 2,4-D + diclosulam ou glyphosate + [halauxifen-metílico + diclosulam] seguido de glufosinato ou paraquat atingiram, pelo menos, 90% de controle de S. latifolia e R. brasiliensis, mas não controlaram S. verticillata (<80%). O glufosinato a 457 g i.a. ha-1 foi equivalente ao paraquat a 400 g i.a. ha-1 como herbicida de contato nas aplicações em golpe duplo, especialmente nas primeiras avaliações.

ABSTRACT: Spermacoce latifolia, S. verticillata, and Richardia brasiliensis (family Rubiaceae, tribe Spermacoceae) are glyphosate-tolerant weeds in the soybean producing areas of Brazil. The weed shifts to glyphosate-tolerant weeds across soybean-producing areas has shown the need for adoption of practices that conserve the efficacy of glyphosate. This study evaluated the effect of single- and double-knockdown herbicide applications on the control of S. latifolia, S. verticillata, and R. brasiliensis prior to soybean sowing. Trials were designed as a randomized block and treatments were arranged as a factorial. Factor A was three systemic herbicide treatments 10 days before sowing (DBS), while Factor B was three contact herbicide treatments applied 0 DBS (“sow and apply”). The single- and double-knockdown applications were followed by post-emergence applications of glyphosate or 2,4-D + glyphosate when the crop reached three leaves. The efficacy of control of each weed species was visually evaluated 14 days after sowing (DAS), as well as 0 and 28 days after post-emergence application (DAA). The double-knockdown applications generally provided higher levels of control for the target weeds of the Rubiaceae family than the single-knockdown applications. Glyphosate + 2,4-D, glyphosate + 2,4-D + diclosulam or glyphosate + [halauxifen-methyl + diclosulam] followed by glufosinate or paraquat achieved at least 90% of control of S. latifolia and R. brasiliensis, but did not control S. verticillata (<80%). Glufosinate at 457 g a.i. ha-1 was equivalent to paraquat at 400 g a.i. ha-1 as a contact herbicide in the double-knockdown applications, especially on the first assessment dates.

RESUMO: A soja DAS-444Ø6-6 expressa as enzimas AAD-12, 2mEPSPS e PAT, conferindo, respectivamente, tolerância aos herbicidas 2,4-D, glifosato e glufosinato de amônio. Esse evento também pode ser combinado à soja DAS-81419-2, que expressa as enzimas Cry1Ac e Cry1F e confere resistência a amplo espectro de insetos lepidópteros. A adoção bem-sucedida dessas tecnologias requer eventos biotecnológicos que atuem nas diferentes regiões climáticas do país, sobretudo sob condições ambientais adversas. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar a tolerância das sojas DAS 444Ø6-6 e DAS-444Ø6-6 x DAS-81419-2 aos herbicidas 2,4-D e glifosato na região do cerrado brasileiro. Oito ensaios foram realizados em campo em quatro locais durante a safra 2015/2016, usando-se delineamento de blocos ao acaso com tratamentos em esquema fatorial. O fator A foi 2,4-D sal colina (456 g e.a. L-1) + glifosato sal DMA (480 g e.a. L-1) nas doses de 975 + 1.025 e 1.950 + 2.050 g e.a. ha-1, e a mistura formulada de 2,4-D sal colina (195 g e.a. L-1) + glifosato sal DMA (205 g e.a. L-1) nas doses de 2.000 (975 + 1.025) e 4.000 (1.950 + 2.050) g e.a. ha-1. O fator B foi a aplicação nos estádios V3, V6 e R2. Não se observou clorose, epinastia e inibição de crescimento nas plantas de soja. Foi observado leve murchamento um dia após o tratamento (DAT), mas não aos 7 DAT. O 2,4-D sal colina + glifosato sal DMA nas doses de 975 + 1.025 e 1.950 + 2.050 g e.a. ha-1 causou, respectivamente, menos de 6 e 13% de necrose ou injúria aos 7 DAT, e menos de 2% na avaliação realizada aos 28 DAT, independentemente da formulação aplicada. O rendimento de grãos não foi afetado pelos fatores testados ou pela sua interação, independentemente da composição de eventos da soja e da localização da área experimental. A soja DAS-444Ø6-6, combinada ou não com a DAS-81419-2, mostrou elevada tolerância ao 2,4-D sal colina e glifosato sal DMA na região do cerrado no Brasil.

ABSTRACT: The DAS-444Ø6-6 soybean expresses AAD-12, 2mEPSPS and PAT enzymes to provide, respectively, tolerance to 2,4-D, glyphosate and ammonium glufosinate. This event is also associated with DAS-81419-2 expressing Cry1Ac and Cry1F proteins to provide protection against a broad spectrum of soybean lepidopteran insect species. Successful adoption by growers of these technologies relies on the traits performing in the diverse environments of Brazil, especially under adverse weather conditions. The objective of this study was to characterize the tolerance of DAS 444Ø6-6 and DAS-444Ø6-6 x DAS-81419-2 soybeans to 2,4-D and glyphosate in the Cerrado region of Brazil. Eight trials across four sites were conducted in the 2015/2016 summer rainy season using a randomized complete block design, with a factorial arrangement of treatments. Factor A was 2,4-D choline salt (456 g a.e. L-1) + glyphosate DMA salt (480 g a.e. L-1) at 975 + 1,025 and 1,950 + 2,050 g a.e. ha-1, respectively and ready-mix of (2,4-D choline salt 195 g a.e. L-1 + glyphosate DMA salt 205 g a.e. L-1) at 2,000 (975 + 1,025) and 4,000 (1,950 + 2,050) g a.e. ha-1. Factor B was application timing at V3, V6 and R2 soybean growth stages. No visible symptoms of leaf chlorosis, epinasty, or growth inhibition were observed. Slight leaf droop was observed at 1 day after treatment (DAT), but it was null at 7 DAT. Less than 6% and 13% of leaf necrosis or injury were observed at 7 DAT, respectively, at 975 + 1,025 and 1,950 + 2,050 g a.e. ha-1 of 2,4-D choline salt + glyphosate DMA salt, regardless of applied as a ready-mix or not, but it was always 2% or less at 28 DAT. Crop grain yield was not influenced by herbicide treatments, application timing and their interaction, regardless of the soybean event and experimental site. DAS-444Ø6-6 and DAS-444Ø6-6 x DAS-81419-2 soybeans showed high tolerance to 2,4-D choline salt and glyphosate DMA in the Cerrado region of Brazil.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a eficiência de diferentes sistemas de manejo com aplicações sequenciais de herbicidas no controle de Conyza spp. Para isso, foram instalados quatro experimentos em campo, sendo dois na região oeste do Paraná (E1 e E2), um em Goiás (E3) e outro no Rio Grande do Sul (E4). A Conyza spp. presente estava com altura entre entre 25 e 60 cm. Os tratamentos foram dispostos no delineamento em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos utilizados na primeira aplicação em dessecação foram o 2,4-D + glyphosate + diclosulam, chlorimuron-ethyl + glyphosate + 2,4-D e (diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl) + glyphosate em quatro doses. Após 10 dias foram realizadas as aplicações sequenciais dentro de cada tratamento, utilizando os seguintes herbicidas: amônio glufosinato, paraquat e saflufenacil, totalizando 18 tratamentos mais uma testemunha sem aplicação herbicida. Os resultados mostraram em todos os experimentos um controle superior a 90% nos tratamentos contendo diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl + glyphosate aos 35 DAA, independentemente do herbicida aplicado na sequência. Os resultados mostraram ainda que os herbicidas 2,4-D + glyphosate + diclosulam e chlorimuron-ethyl + glyphosate + 2,4-D foram ineficientes no controle de Conyza spp. em E1 e E2, possivelmente pelo tamanho das plantas daninhas (50-60 cm), porém eficientes em E3 e E4 aos 35 DAA, onde as plantas de buva se encontravam menores. O herbicida diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl + glyphosate, associado a amônio-glufosinato, paraquat ou saflufenacil em aplicações sequenciais, mostrou ser uma importante ferramenta para controle de Conyza spp. em diferentes estágios de desenvolvimento.

ABSTRACT: The goal of this study was to compare the efficacy of different weed management through a burndown application followed by sequential applications of herbicides to control Conyza spp. Thus, four field experiments were conducted, two in the western region of Paraná state (E1 and E2), one in Jataí, Goiás state (E3) and another one in Ibirubá, Rio Grande do Sul state (E4). Conyza spp. in this area had a height ranging between 25 and 60 cm. Treatments were arranged in a randomized block design with four replications. The primary herbicide treatments were 2,4-D + glyphosate + diclosulam, chlorimuron-ethyl + glyphosate + 2,4-D, and four doses of diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl + glyphosate. These treatments were applied singly or in sequential applications, made 10 days before the application of ammonium glufosinate, paraquat or saflufenacil. In all experiments, results showed efficient (90%) control of treatments containing diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl in combination with glyphosate on day 35 DAA, regardless of sequential applications. Applications of 2,4-D + glyphosate + diclosulam or chlorimuron-ethyl + glyphosate + 2,4-D were not effective against Conyza spp. at E1 and E2 locations, possibly due to the greater weed size (50 to 60 cm) at these sites. However, the same treatments were effective at E3 and E4 locations, where weeds were smaller. Diclosulam + halauxifen-methyl + glyphosate associated with ammonium glufosinate, paraquat or saflufenacil in sequential applications, proved to be an important tool to manage Conyza spp. at different growth stages.

RESUMO: O controle químico é um dos principais métodos utilizados no manejo de plantas daninhas, porém a aplicação repetida de um mesmo mecanismo de ação pode selecionar indivíduos tolerantes aos herbicidas e formar populações resistentes. O capim-colchão (Digitaria horizontalis) é uma das principais plantas daninhas que afetam a cultura da cana-de-açúcar, e têm sido relatadas falhas no controle dessa espécie após a aplicação de herbicidas inibidores de fotossistema II. Com este trabalho, objetivou-se identificar a resistência de diferentes populações de capim-colchão a inibidores do fotossistema II (ametrina e diuron). Três populações foram coletadas, identificadas e submetidas à aplicação dos herbicidas, sendo os experimentos conduzidos em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 10x3, em que 10 foram as doses testadas e 3 as populações, sendo um experimento para cada herbicida, com quatro repetições. Aos 60 dias após a aplicação, avaliaram-se a porcentagem de controle e a massa da matéria seca das plantas. O fator de resistência (FR) foi calculado para se determinar a diferença de controle entre os herbicidas e as populações de capim-colchão. As populações de capim-colchão apresentaram suscetibilidades diferenciais para os herbicidas, sendo a população originada de Ribeirão Preto resistente a ametrina. Plantas da população originada de Santa Cruz das Posses mostraram maior tolerância ao diuron. Os valores de FR variaram entre 1,0 e 2,34 entre as populações.

ABSTRACT: Weed interference reduces the productive potential of crops. Among the control methods used, chemical ones occupy a major position. The repeated application of the same mechanism of action selects tolerant plants. Among the species that affect sugarcane, crabgrass is one of them. This study has aimed to know the tolerance of different populations of this species to herbicides inhibiting photosystem II. Three populations were collected, identified and submitted to the application of ametryn and diuron herbicides in ten different doses, and the experiment was conducted in a experimental design of complete randomized blocks with four repetitions in a factorial arrangement of 10 x 3 (10 doses x 3 populations), being one trial for each herbicide. Sixty days after application, visual control and plants shoot dry biomass were evaluated. The data were submitted to an analysis of variance by the F test and, when significant, their means were compared using the Tukey’s test. The averages related to the herbicide doses were submitted to a graphical analysis by applying a log-logistic regression where the herbicide doses required to cause 50 or 80% of injury and reduction of dry biomass of plants were calculated. The resistance factor was calculated to determine the difference in herbicide tolerance among populations. Based on the results, it was observed that the populations exhibit differential sensitivities to herbicides and the one originated in Brazilian city Ribeirão Preto was resistant to ametryn. The population originated in Brazilian city Santa Cruz das Posses was less sensitive to diuron. The RF values ranged between 1.0 and 2.34.

O efeito de dessecantes sobre o período anterior à interferência (PAI) pode auxiliar na tomada de decisão para o manejo das plantas daninhas. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar se a adição de chlorimuron-ethyl ao glyphosate, para dessecação em pré-semeadura, altera a extensão do PAI na soja. O experimento foi realizado em Jaboticabal-SP, Brasil, submetendo-se o cultivar Monsoy 7908RR a oito períodos de convivência com plantas daninhas, além de testemunhas no mato e no limpo, nos quais foram aplicados dois grupos de tratamentos: glyphosate e glyphosate + chlorimuron-ethyl. Em cada período, foram calculados o índice de importância relativa e os índices de diversidade e equitabilidade; por meio da análise de regressão dos dados de produtividade de grãos, determinou-se o PAI. Digitaria insularis, Acanthospermum hispidum, Raphanus raphanistrum e Commelina benghalensis apresentaram maior importância relativa. Os índices de diversidade e equitabilidade oscilaram durante os períodos, e a diferença entre as plantas daninhas fundamentou-se no acúmulo de massa seca. O PAI na soja no tratamento com glyphosate foi de 37 dias após a semeadura (DAS) e de 51 DAS naquele com glyphosate + chlorimuron-ethyl. A adição de chlorimuron-ethyl ao glyphosate permite que a cultura conviva mais tempo com as plantas daninhas sem que ocorra redução significativa na produtividade.

The effects of burndown herbicides on the period before weed interference (PBI) may provide support to weed management decision-making. The objective of this research was to verify whether the PBI is affected by the application of glyphosate plus chlorimuron-ethyl to pre-sowing burndown in soybean. The experiment was carried out in Jaboticabal-SP, Brazil, submitting the cultivar Monsoy 7908RR to eight coexistence periods with weeds, maintaining weedy and-weed-free checks, which were applied to two groups of treatments: glyphosate and glyphosate + chlorimuron-ethyl. At each period, relative importance, diversity and equitability indexes were calculated. The PBI was determined based on regression analysis of grain yield. Digitaria insularis, Acanthospermum hispidum, Raphanus raphanistrum and Commelina benghalensis showed the highest values of relative importance. The diversity and equitability indexes oscillated during the periods, and dry mass accumulation was the basis of the difference among the weeds. The PBI in soybean was 37 days after sowing (DAS) in the treatment with glyphosate and 51 DAS in the glyphosate + chlorimuron-ethyl treatment. The addition of chlorimuron-ethyl to glyphosate allows the crop to coexist with weeds for a longer time without any significant yield reduction.
